The advent of contact lenses has created a sensation worldwide. Contact lens has been the most successful thing in today's world. Contact lenses have been the greatest fashion among the youth all over the world. There are prescription color contact lenses as well as lenses that can be used for cosmetic purposes. There are lenses which are available in different colors as well as different designs and patterns which can render vision correction as well as style.

Color contact lenses are the ones for which you have to take utmost care. No other lens requires this much of cleaning. You need a contact lens case for these lenses and it is a better option to use cases with screw down lids as there is no chance of solution leakage from these cases. You should remember to clean your case with soap at least once a week and make it a point to keep it in boiling water for at least 10 weeks. This helps in killing the bacteria and then you should dry the case. If you have a number of lenses with various colors then it is recommended to mark them while keeping the lens.

The main purpose of colored lenses is to cover your iris and give a new color to your eyes. The tint and the texture of lenses vary and it depends on the color and the pattern of the lens chosen by you. The color lenses which are common are obscure colors and augmentation tints. The most interesting feature about color contact lenses is that, they do not look same on two people. Opaque color lenses change the color of your eyes totally. For example somebody with grey eyes can make it green or somebody with green eyes can make it blue. Color contact lenses can be used to make your eyes dramatic and give them a new tint. A person with green eyes can make his eyes brighter by wearing a sea green color contact lens. On the other hand a person with brown eyes wearing the same lens will have no effect on his eyes.

The latest concept in color contact lens is the equinox lens. These lenses have a black ring on its outer surface and wearing them gives a dramatic effect to your eyes and looks totally natural. Today color contact lenses are used to change your eye color according to your mood, outfit or makeup. Color contact lenses are mostly used for fashion. But you should remember that before taking any lens you should consult a doctor and work according to his advice.

Is there a test for polarized sun glasses? I mean to know how good the polarize is?

I was looking for sunglasses and one of the ladies of the store showed me a glass with a figure in low relief, engraved, it was transparent. She said that it was a polarize test and asked me to put the sunglasses on and looked at the picture. I could see the colors in it, how is that posible? Those sunglasses had 7 types of polarize, then i put other pair with just one polarize, I couldn't see the colors. How those that work?

Polarization is how you filter out colors or specific wavelenghts of light. Here's an excerpt from a wikipedia page:
Light reflected by shiny transparent materials is partly or fully polarized, except when the light is normal (perpendicular) to the surface. A polarizing filter, such as a pair of polarizing sunglasses, can be used to observe this by rotating the filter while looking through. At certain angles, the reflected light will be reduced or eliminated. Polarizing filters remove light polarized at 90° to the filter's polarization axis. If two polarizers are placed atop one another at 90° angles to one another, no light passes through.

The effects of a polarizer on the sky in a color photograph. The right picture has the polarizer, the left does not. Some photographic polarizers are called circular polarizers. These actually select a linear polarization state from the scene, but then convert it into circularly-polarized light for the camera.[citation needed]Polarization by scattering is observed as light passes through the atmosphere. The scattered light produces the brightness and color in clear skies. This partial polarization of scattered light can be used to darken the sky in photographs, increasing the contrast. This effect is easiest to observe at sunset, on the horizon at a 90° angle from the setting sun. Another easily observed effect is the drastic reduction in brightness of images of the sky and clouds reflected from horizontal surfaces, which is the main reason polarizing filters are often used in sunglasses. Also frequently visible through polarizing sunglasses are rainbow-like patterns caused by color-dependent birefringent effects, for example in toughened glass (e.g. car windows) or items made from transparent plastics. The role played by polarization in the operation of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) is also frequently apparent to the wearer of polarizing sunglasses, which may reduce the contrast or even make the display unreadable.

The photograph at the right was taken through polarizing sunglasses and through the rear window of a car. Light from the sky is reflected by the windshield of the other car at an angle, making it mostly horizontally polarized. The rear window is made of tempered glass. Stress in the glass, left from its heat treatment, causes it to alter the polarization of light passing through it, like a wave plate. Without this effect, the sunglasses would block the horizontally polarized light reflected from the other car's window. The stress in the rear window, however, changes some of the horizontally polarized light into vertically polarized light that can pass through the glasses. As a result, the regular pattern of the heat treatment becomes visible.
